Commissioned research and development

The picture shows a specially designed flow cell circulation system connected to a water-conducting fracture deep down in the bedrock. The flow cells contain different types of materials that bacteria like to grow on. In this way we can study microorganisms under natural conditions but also simulate what happens when a change in the environment occurs, such as the construction of a repository for radioactive waste. Some issues will require more than just analysis. Therefore, we can offer contract research and process development, all in our unique and well-equipped lab.

Sometimes the standard analyzes proves insufficient and more complex research and tests are required. We have great experience in conducting complete research assignments in both microbiology and chemistry. Since our specialty is to work in anaerobic systems and environments, we can offer several different ways to solve problematic experiments without risking oxygen contamination.

In our laboratory we have access to project laboratories which contain flow systems for studying microbiological and chemical processes. Since we can offer such a width to our work, and due to the fact that we have complete control of everything from sampling to analyzing, data processing and reporting, we can guarantee the total quality of the project.

Our scientists, who have up towards 30 years of experience in research, are part of the planning, execution and interpreting of the data. We can convey the results in many forms, from reports and scientific articles to a more popular-scientific presentation.

Areas of research and projects that we have worked with consists of; microorganisms influence on the storage of radioactive waste, the efficiency of disinfection methods in water and on surfaces, degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons in groundwater, iron oxidizing bacteria associated with clogging and corrosion, and much, much more.
