Micans in Switzerland
2016-05-10
In a restored monastery in the scenic area Warth outside of Zurich, representatives from member organizations participating in the international project FEBEX DP met. Micans has for two years been involved in the microbiological investigations carried out within the project.
FEBEX-DP is a full-scale project that lasted more than 20 years and aimed with greatest possible extent to simulate a real repository for high-level radioactive waste. During the past year, the repository has been dismantled and a comprehensive analysis program that examined all parts of the repository has been going on. Micans conducted microbiological tests on bentonite clay in the repository, and was represented by Andreas Bengtsson who presented Micans’ results at the meeting that lasted 2th to 4th of May.
