Micans acted as microbiological experts in the retrieval of two miniature canisters from SKB’s MiniCan experiment placed in Äspö Hard Rock Laboratory during the autumn 2015.

Results from the analyses performed on water and materials from the experiment showed that sulphate-reducing bacteria enhance corrosion of metal under metabolically beneficial circumstances. The results are presented in both in SKB report TR-16-13 and as a scientific paper in the journal Corrosion Engineering, Science and Technology.
