In June 2015 scientists and graduate students participated in a conference where experts lectured about different aspects of safe disposal of radioactive waste. One of the lectures was held by Karsten Pedersen where he taught about how microorganisms can both positively and negatively influence a final repository for spent nuclear fuel. He emphasized, among other things, the importance of being pro-active, meaning that one must prevent negative effects of microbial activity through smart and well though out solutions of barriers and containments. The conference was arranged by the EU project Petrus III.

The conference was held at Campus Artem in Nancy, France. Click on the picture for more information.
